Clinical utility
Detection of bladder tumor antigen (BTA) in urine -- for evaluating patients with suspected bladder cancer or recurrent bladder cancer. The presence or absence of is not an absolute indicator of transitional cell cancer of the bladder. BTA in urine may also occur as a result of trauma to the bladder. Urinary tract infections or renal/bladder calculi can result in false-positive results.


Collection Instruction
Voided or catheterized urine only. Use a clean urine cup without
preservatives or fixatives. Do not use paper or foam cups. If
possible, do NOT use first morning urine void. Allow ample time
after trauma (surgery, biopsy, etc.) for recovery before collecting
sample.
